Celebration of Doctor’s Day at Department of Microbiology, SGRRIM&HS

On the occasion of National Doctor’s Day, the Department of Microbiology, SGRRIM&HS, organized a special event on 1st July 2025 to honor the invaluable contributions of doctors and to foster academic creativity among budding doctors.

As part of the celebration, Second-year MBBS students , 2023 batch showcased a series of innovative microbiology-themed models, reflecting their understanding and creativity. The students presented models on a variety of microbiological topics, including Types of Antibodies, Mechanism of Action and Antibiotic Resistance, Microscopy in Malaria, Bacterial Cell Wall, Aspergillus Species, Rhabdovirus, and Influenza. These models were thoughtfully created under the guidance of postgraduate students and faculty members. Model making serves as an effective learning tool, enabling students to visualize complex microbiological concepts, enhance their understanding through hands-on application, and foster collaborative learning amongst students. The event was judged by esteemed faculty members – Dr. Manoj Gupta (Director SGRRIM&HS), Dr. Puneet Ohri (Prof. & Head of the department of Community Medicine), and Dr. Suman Bala (Prof. & Head of the department of Pharmacology). Judges appreciated the students' efforts, scientific approach, and presentation skills. Dr. Manoj Gupta especially commended the remarkable enthusiasm and diligent efforts displayed by all the participating student groups. First Prize was awarded to Titiksha Rawat, Vibhuti Sadawarti, and their group for their detailed and visually impressive model of the Corona Virus. Second Prize was won by Suhani Dhawan, Sanjeevani Rangar, and team for their informative model on "Parasitic Eggs in Stool – Routine and Microscopy". Winners of third Prize were Anushka Salar, Anshul Garg, and group for their creative depiction of “Hypersensitivity reactions.”

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sulekha Nautiyal, (Prof. & Head, Department of Microbiology), who acknowledged the support of all the faculties, participants, and organizing team in making the event a grand success.

The celebration not only paid tribute to the dedication of doctors but also provided a platform for budding medical professionals to engage in scientific exploration and teamwork.
